ENGLISH FESTIVAL OF SKETCHES
Time has come again for The English Festival of Sketches. This year we will be holding the THIRD EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL.
This year sixty-three students will be performing different sketches on stage and more voluntereed but we couldn't cope with so many students. I hope next year you have your opportunity, too.
The show will take place in Margarita Buron Theatre on the 21st June and it will be divided into two halves with different sketches in each half. Please consult the leaflets below to know about the different sketches in each half.
Join us and I'm sure you'll have a very good time watching your mates on stage performing such funny sketches. We would love to have the same enthusiastic audience we had in the previous editions.

THEATRE IN ENGLISH FOR 3rd & 4th ESO
During the first term, 1st Cycle students went to the theatre to watch "Drockula", a play in English. During the second term, Bachillerato students went to the same theatre and enjoyed "A Midnight Summer Dream". Now it is 2nd Cycle students' turn to watch a play in English. On Friday 23rd at Margarita Buron Theatre you will be watching "Pop Dreams with Romeo and Juliet" , a musical play about two high school students who have to perform another play. I'm sure you all want to know more about the plot. For this reason you have to read the plot synopsis and answer the following questions before Friday 23rd. It will also help you understand the play better.
You can answer the questions orally or you can type your answers in the Voicethread below:

THEATRE IN ENGLISH: "A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM"

Dreams and reality, mixed identities, unrequited love, the supernatural, mythological and mortal beings all come together in one of Shakespeare's most celebrated comedies not forgetting the distinctive touch of humour, gags and songs that Face2Face brings to all its shows.
In the following link you can download a sheet with a short summary of the play and below you have some comprenhension questions I strongly advise you to answer before watching the play to make sure you understand the plot and the general setting. You can write your answers in the following VoiceThread or say them aloud. Don't forget to introduce yourselves so that I can reward those students who answer the questions.

BRITISH PANTOMIME
THE MADRID PLAYERS' CHRISTMAS PANTOMIME IS BACK THIS YEAR!!!!
Pantomime is a peculiarly British tradition and goes back at least 100 years. Pantomimes always take place at Christmas and nearly always have stories based around well known children's stories such as Peter Pan, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty etc.
They are very audience interactive. You certainly boo the villian, etc., but you should also have several arguments between characters and the audience:
Wicked queen in Snow White - "I am the fairest of them all"
Audience - "Oh no you're not!"
Queen - "Oh yes I am!"
Audience - "Oh no you're not!"
The Panto takes these children's stories and and injects a bit of music hall (British Vaudeville) sensibility, contemporary references and audience participation to create a raucous, noisy entertainment that is fun for everyone in the family.
If you really want to know what a panto is like, you shouldn't miss The Madrid Players' Robin Hood Pantomime. Click on the link if you want to know more details.
