By now all of you should have practised the minimal pair /i:/ /i/ and be familiar with both sounds. However, there are some of you who still haven't made their comment on the post. Remember your final marks depend on your active participation in all the activities suggested.
Today you must go to the BBC site and listen to the pronunciation of these two sounds /u/ /u:/ Then do Unit 2.
After that, go to this page and do some more practice on the pairs studied so far.
This time I'm the first posting! This unit has been very usefull too to improve our pronunciation and to learn the difference between some words. The new webpage: http://www.shiporsheep.com/ is great too, but the examples are more of them the same.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Javier! This year you're gonna be the tops!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that if we learn the main phonetic symbols, we could improve our english. The two websites have many examples, and thanks to them, we can see the difference between one or the other pronunciation.
ReplyDeletewell i hate foneticks so i did the exercise only to finish with this mambo jumbo XD
ReplyDeleteHello I have done unit 2, i dont like phonetics because i am not good at it.
ReplyDeleteNow i think that I know the diference between /u/ /u:/
I think this unit has been harder than the first. A find a bit tought to difference /u/ from /u:/, but the last one is longer than the first.
ReplyDeleteI've seen that some words that have double "o" not always sounds as /u:/. For example "good" gots /u/ instead of /u:/.
Ok, I've done it, the begining was hard but i've finally understanded.
ReplyDeleteIts hard to think os the symbols as a sound.
This activity is usefull to see the difference between some words and to learn their pronunciation. Maybe some words are difficult to understand because in some examples the pronunciation is too similar.
ReplyDeleteThe exercises are great!, I didn't do the exercises perfectly, so I had to repeat some of them, but they weren't too difficult.
ReplyDeleteToday`s pronunciation tips were way easier than last ones.I realize that this kind of exercises really improve our English pronunciation, but we must not forget them when we study new ones.

Hi! I've done the pronunciation exercises. Today we are trying to practise the pronunciation of /u/ and /u:/. I think that these exercises help us to improve our pronunciation.
